Northern Pond Nature Preserve

The Town of Monroe owns and maintains a nature preserve called the Northern Pond Natural Area.  It is located on the western side of the Dahlia Farm Road in northern Monroe about 1.3 miles from the village.  There is a primitive, unimproved parking area that provides parking for up to three vehicles, weather permitting.  The preserve centers on Northern Pond, a 15 acre pond with an undeveloped shoreline.  The pond ranges in depth from 10 to 14 feet.  Canoers and kayakers can put in at the end of the parking area access road, although a short portage is required.  There are three trails offering from easy to moderately difficult hiking.  The length of the trails ranges from 800 feet long to 4,000 feet long.
